Horseback riding tour in Gjinofshat – the ancient territory of the Epirot village

This experience is suitable for people who are in good physical shape and have ridden a few times before. The pace of movement is low and average, but the terrain has strong breaks.

Program

This beginner-friendly horseback riding experience starts at the equestrian center above the village of Asim Zeneli. Each participant is carefully matched with a calm and well-trained horse based on riding level, weight, and height. The horses are accustomed to people and perfectly adapted to the hilly terrain, living and moving naturally within their own habitat.

After a short familiarization with the horse, the ride begins directly from the stable.

The route unfolds across a diverse yet comfortable hilly landscape, with gentle descents and moderate climbs that offer beautiful panoramic views over the surrounding valleys.

The highlight of the journey is Gjinofshat, also known as the Epirote village, forming part of the rural zone that once surrounded the ancient city of Antigonea, founded in 295 BC by King Pyrrhus of Epirus. Riding through this landscape offers a unique combination of nature, freedom, and ancient history.

The return follows a scenic detour across the hills behind the stable, revealing impressive panoramic views before concluding the experience.

This experience is designed to be accessible for beginners, respectful of nature, and deeply immersive, combining the freedom of horseback riding with self-awareness, tranquility, and a touch of adrenaline in a historically rich setting.
